Gwinnett commissioners recently approved a $3,685,500 annual contract to purchase various vehicles. This will allow for the procurement and replacement of automobiles, vans, trucks and accessories for the sheriff’s office, district attorney’s office and the departments of police, transportation, and water resources.

The previous approved contract totaled $4,174,57, but only $2,046,040 was used. The new contract will allow for the purchase of multiple vehicles with numerous configurations based on the user department and their intended use for the vehicle.

The contract goes to low bidders Akin Ford LLC, RHCB, LLC dba Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford, and Wade Ford, Inc. Sixty-eight percent of the funding needed for the contract comes from the vehicle replacement fund, 25 percent from the water and sewer renewal and extension fund, and 7 percent from 2014 SPLOST monies.
