Griffin police bust seven suspected drug houses

Griffin police raided seven homes and seized 123 grams of marijuana after receiving complaints from residents.

Police arrested 14 people during the raids, including five for drug-related charges, police spokesman Investigator Bryan Clanton said Sunday. All are being held at the Spalding County jail.

Police charged four people with possession of marijuana. Two were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

The raids netted a total of 123 grams of marijuana, nine grams of cocaine, three guns and $2,980, police said.

Officers served search warrants at residences on East Solomon, Flynt Street, West College, Ray and Randall Streets, along with Ellis Way.

The raids were the result of a two-week operation between police and the Spalding County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said they launched the investigation after receiving complaints from residents.

“Law abiding citizens eventually reach a point where they feel the need to report drug-related activities to our officers,” Clanton said in a statement. “These complaints are very important to us and a much needed investigative resource.”
