The Grayson City Council voted Monday to approve a purchasing card policy due to legislation enacted by the Georgia General Assembly. The legislation enacted on July 1 specifically requires any city, which issues government purchasing cards, to put in place specific policies regarding the use of such government purchasing cards or government credit cards for elected officials.

The new policy designates any documents related to purchases using government purchasing cards or government credit cards incurred by elected officials shall be available for public inspection and sets transaction limits for purchases. The policy also clearly states city cards may not be used for the purchase of alcohol or any personal items.
