The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a $50,000 Family Connection operating grant for Connecting Henry from the Georgia Department of Human Services.

The vote took place Jan. 8. Connecting Henry, a nonprofit organization, is a planning and coordinating agency for services and programs directed at improving child health, child development, family function, school performance, and family economic capacity. Each year Connecting Henry receives funding through a reimbursement grant from the DHS and it requires no local match. The funds cover the contract year from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020.

The board also voted to accept $50,000 in Emergency Management Performance Grant funds from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. The county’s Emergency Management Agency is qualified to receive funds for the 2019 fiscal year, which require a cash and/or in-kind local match of $50,000.
