A public information open house to discuss a proposed bypass around downtown Holly Springs has been called by the Georgia Department of Transportation. The meeting on the Holly Springs Industrial Drive Extension is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Holly Springs Depot, 164 Hickory Road.
“We would like to hear the viewpoints and concerns of all area residents,” said DeWayne Comer, district engineer in GDOT’s Cartersville office.
The project is intended to mitigate congestion in the downtown area, centered on the intersection of Hickory Road and Holly Springs Parkway and with a nearby railroad crossing at grade. A bypass to the east has been suggested, from Holly Springs Parkway near the I-575 interchange on the north, over the railroad tracks, to Hickory Road on the south. Information: http://bit.ly/2vtLFDy
