‘Foster Forsyth’ seeks residents for plan sessions

Forsyth County is encouraging residents, businesses, property owners and community groups to get involved in the next stage of “Foster Forsyth,” the update of the county’s comprehensive plan, at workshops scheduled for next week.

The sessions are set for 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming, and the same hours Wednesday in the Central Park Recreation Center, 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming.

The “implementation workshops” follow design workshops held in May; after these come the first draft of the plan update. Topics to be covered include housing, land use, transportation and economic development. In late August, open house-style public meetings will present highlights of the draft plan.

The plan is the umbrella policy for the county’s future growth and development, establishes goals and priorities, and is important to rezoning and development decisions.
