Forsyth County has scheduled a town hall meeting for Wednesday, Dec. 12, where residents can learn more about the water reclamation facility proposed for a 99-acre site in the northeast part of the county.

The meeting is to begin at 6 p.m., with a presentation at 7 p.m., in Suite 220 of the County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming. For video of a presentation to the Board of Commissioners: https://bit.ly/2UsOG0Y

According to Frequently Asked Questions posted by the Forsyth County Water & Sewer Department, the plant will use advanced wastewater treatment processes to allow development on public sewers, reducing the number of septic systems and private wastewater treatment facilities.

It would occupy 20 to 25 acres, be constructed in phases starting in 2020, and have an initial capacity of 2.5 million gallons per day, increasing over time to 5 million gallons and then 10 million gallons. Highly treated wastewater would be released into Lake Lanier, in the Chestatee Bay area off Waldrip Road. Information: https://bit.ly/2B3SYTy
