Responding to the creepy clown sightings – invariably bogus – sweeping the country and particularly the schools, the Forsyth County Schools are advising students and parents to report rumors to administrators. They’ve also issued a warning to any would-be pranksters.
“We are aware that the national rumored clown threat is now on local social media,” the district said in a statement issued to the school community. “Though we have found that there is no credibility in these rumors, they are impacting all of our high schools and a number of our elementary and middle schools.”
School officials ask parents to talk about the consequences of such rumors with their children, and to contact their school administration so valid threats can be investigated by the district’s Safety Department and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, the district says, “Students making false threats or involved in hoaxes will face disciplinary consequences.”
