The Forsyth County Board of Education has appointed principals to head up the two new campuses the district will open in the fall of 2016.

Todd Smith will take the helm at Brandywine Elementary. Smith is a 12-year veteran of the Forsyth County Schools and is coming from Midway Elementary, where he has served as principal since 2007. He’s a 24-year educator.

Terri North was appointed principal at DeSana Middle School. She is opening her third new school in Forsyth, having already taken the principalships at Riverwatch and Piney Grove middle schools for the first year at both campuses. She began her teaching career in North Carolina in 1980.

Brandywine is on Martin Road south of McFarland Parkway and Ga. 9. Total building cost is expected at about $17.9 million. DeSana Middle School is on James Road just south and west of the McFarland Parkway-Union Hill Road intersection, and is being built for $26.5 million.
