The Forsyth County Board of Education Thursday night approved final elementary and middle school attendance boundaries for the 2016-2017 school year, following several revisions and public meetings.
The changes affect 10 campuses and are designed to both relieve overcrowding and to populate two new campuses opening in the fall of 2016 in the southwest portion of the county: Brandywine elementary and DeSana middle.
Under a map provided by the school district and using prior announced figures, the new Brandywine Elementary School would reportedly open with just over 1,000 students, having apparently received students from the neighboring Big Creek, Shiloh Point and Midway elementary school attendance zones. DeSana would reportedly set up shop with roughly 850 students, with students arriving from two existing middle-school zones.
District officials did not adjust high school attendance lines, but said changes will be coming with the opening of Denmark High School in the fall of 2018, leading to a reworking of attendance lines in fall, 2017.
