It appears the Forsyth County School District is taking a wait-and-see attitude on the Obama administration directive on transgendered student bathroom use.

A statement issued by district spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo said the district has not changed any current policies or practices. It goes onto to note that the issue has not been settled by Congress or the courts, and notes the district will monitor the situation and consider the guidance of its legal advisers as well as state and federal officials.

The Obama administration issued a directive to the nation’s schools earlier this month that transgendered students be allowed to use the bathroom of their chosen gender, sparking a firestorm of protest. The Forsyth district said it has always addressed the unique needs of any individual student, including the transgendered.
