The Forsyth County Planning Commission moved forward recently on a south Forsyth storage facility project after deadlocking on it in June.
OCS Enterprises was seeking to build a 103,000-square-foot climate-controlled storage building just east of Atlanta Highway and just south of Shirlee Industrial Way.The developers had sought three variances, including one that would allow the structure to be 365 feet long. That’s counter to a 200-foot-long maximum for storage buildings established by the county in December.
After tying 2-2 on the proposal in June, board members voted 3 to 1 to move the plan ahead June 26 after hearing the developer would chop the building in two, creating two structures each approximately 180 feet long. Two other landscaping-related variances were allowed to stand.
The proposal is set to be considered by the full commission Aug. 8.
