The City of Fayetteville voted on Aug. 16 to increase its property tax millage by 44.92 percent, to support a proposed FY2019 budget of $15.4 million.

The City Council unanimously approved the measure, which ups the rate from the current 3.874 mills to 5.646 mills, or 1.75 mills above the rollback rate. The increase will result in more than $1.8 million of extra revenue for the coming year, $1.4 million of which will go toward public safety services, including 12 new firefighters and five more police officers, as well as new vehicles and cameras.

A home with a fair-market value of $250,000 will see a property tax increase of $177.20. A non-homestead property valued at $400,000 will have a tax increase of $283.52.
