A recommendation to adjust the classifications and salaries of five Fayette County Water System employees will now be implemented following a 3-2 approval vote from the Board of Commissioners on July 27.

The measure had been tabled during the June 28 meeting after Commissioners Steve Brown and Charles Rousseau questioned whether proper procedure had been followed regarding the salary study done by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government; County Attorney Dennis Davenport told the commissioners that it had. The result will be pay grade changes retroactive to July 2017, at a cost of just under $16,000.

Other adjustments have already been made in other county departments based on the study.
