Fayette County plans to add more teachers in order to decrease class sizes, based on a preliminary 2015-2016 allotment plan presented to the Board of Education last Monday.

The greatest change is at the elementary schools, which may hire 20 more regular education teachers over last year. Four high school assistant principal positions may be restored to schools that lost them during the recession, along with new technology and data personnel, to manage increased workloads resulting from more standardized testing and assessments.

Increased staffing and a proposed 1.5 percent cost-of-living increase puts the projected budget at $184.7 million.
