Fayette County marked two notable administrative retirements at its Dec. 12 Board of Commissioners meeting.
Chief Finance Officer Mary Parrott was honored by County Administrator Steve Rapson for her more than 17 years of service in the finance department, and Building Safety Director Joe Scarborough was recognized for more than 18 years in Fayette administration. Under Parrott’s leadership, the county noted, “the Finance Department has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the past 17 years.” Scarborough began as a building inspector in 2001 and was recently recognized by the U.S. Virgin Islands for his volunteer work assisting with hurricane reconstruction there in 2018.
Sheryl Weinmann, the assistant CFO, and Steven Tafoya, the assistant building safety director, will serve as interim directors of their respective departments.
