As part of Fayette County’s plans to build a new fire station, it has negotiated to own the architectural designs for future use. The Board of Commissioners approved $179,130 on Sept. 28 for the Howell Group Inc., to design a new Fire Station 4, which will be built on McElroy Road and replace the current facility on Johnson Road.

The same company designed Fire Station 3 in 2012, which prompted the commission to ask that the current request for proposals stipulate that the county would own the architectural plans so that design work would not have to be duplicated. Fire Chief David Scarborough said no additional stations are planned, but Fire Station 2 will be the next to be rebuilt or modernized.
