The Fayette County Board of Education spent part of its Feb. 26 meeting updating parents and students about the school system’s security measures. Ted Lombard, coordinator of safety, discipline and athletics, said additional security cameras, building access controls, lockdown buttons and other emergency plans have been implemented since last year. Drills are conducted each semester, and each school has its own Room Status Verification Program app. Lombard said more district-level exercises are planned, as are stricter procedures for visitor management and more refined parent-student reunification processes.
A podcast of the presentation will be posted at https://www.fcboe.org/Page/167.
