The (artificial) grass is getting greener at Fayette County high schools. Following the installation of a turf field at Sandy Creek this year, the Board of Education voted unanimously recently to move forward with adding turf fields at its other four stadiums.

The total cost of the contract to Precision Turf will be a maximum of $3.2 million, including grading and drainage work. Construction at McIntosh and Whitewater will begin soon, followed by Fayette County and Starr’s Mill next summer. Superintendent Joseph Barrow Jr. said the new field at Sandy Creek has received very positive reviews.
