A proposed new logo for Fayette County Public Schools has been characterized by one school board member as “very feminine.” The blue and green diamond design with a flame shape in the middle is an updated version of the blue diamond logo that has been used since 1982, with the new tagline “Where Excellence and Creativity Merge.”

Barry Marchman, who represents Post 1, said during Monday’s board meeting that he thinks the logo is “very feminine” but was “too embarrassed” to say what it reminds him of. Other board members expressed support for the logo and its purpose to update the county’s branding. Further discussion and a possible vote on adopting the logo is scheduled for the board’s Feb. 4 work session.

The school system will be updating its materials during the course of the year because its administrative offices are moving to a new location in February.
