Fayette County has agreed to rezone 5.85 acres on Redwine Road just south of Ebenezer Church Road for denser residential development.

The Board of Commissioners voted 4-0-1 on Oct. 24, with Eric Maxwell recused, to change a portion of a larger tract from A-R (agricultural residential) to R-55 (low-density residential) at the request of the Handley Family Trust and their agent, Rod Wright Corp. The developer plans to build four single-family homes fronting on Redwine, leaving the remainder subdivided into two A-R lots. However, the county’s approval came with two conditions stating that no more than four driveway curb cuts could be installed on Redwine Road to access those six lots, and that the existing house on the property either be brought into compliance with R-55 zoning requirements or be removed.

The Fayette County Planning Commission had previously heard and approved the rezoning request on Oct. 3.
