Current Fayette County employees can earn $250 for successfully referring new employees to the county government.

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the new incentive program at its May 9 meeting. Part-time and full-time employees actively on the payroll are eligible to receive the award if the candidate they refer is hired for either a part-time or full-time position.

The referral must be made to the Fayette human resources office before the candidate applies for a job; each applicant may only be referred by one existing employee. The incentive program does not apply to part-time employees who become full-time; volunteers who become employees; or individuals with a prior association with the county, such as contractors or temporary employees.

Contract employees, division directors, department heads, assistant department heads, human resources employees, elected officials, immediate family members of employees, the county administrator and those directly involved in the hiring process are not eligible to receive referral awards.
