The family of a woman found in the middle of I-85 on Friday morning came forward this afternoon. The family believes she was pushed out of a moving car.
The family of Joresa Critten said she is still in ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital. They said someone tried robbing her, and then pushed her out of a moving car. Family members said she had just received her tax return and had a lot of cash.
Critten’s mother broke down in a follow-up interview over the weekend with Channel 2 Action News.
“Come forward. Give some kind of information to the police department, so they can find who did this to my child,” said Izivia Woodbury, Critten’s mother.
The family gathered in front of Grady on Sunday afternoon because they want justice for Critten.
They said she went out with friends Thursday and came back home that night. The next day she was found on I-85 during rush-hour near the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
“We're trying to reach the young lady that she was hanging out with that night. She's not been in contact with us at all,” said Major Fields, the victim’s cousin.
The family insists someone pushed Critten out of a moving car Friday morning and she may have known someone in that car.The 22-year-old was hit once before a couple tried to steer traffic around her body.
“We're really waiting on Jo to wake up to tell us exactly what really happened,” said the victim’s aunt, Celestine Long.
Long said her niece has a difficult road ahead. Critten's first surgery is scheduled for Monday.
The Hapeville Police Department is handling the investigation.
