Wind, trees and power lines make for a bad mix.

Georgia Power officials said Friday afternoon that about 3,800 customers in the metro Atlanta area are without power due to “rain, wet soil and high winds.”

“Tree and limbs are falling,” said utility spokeswoman Carol Boatright, and will continue to do so while the area experiences high winds.

Outages have been reported throughout the region, and some traffic lights have been affected. Boatright said Georgia Power crews were working on about 50 “separate events” at 1:20 p.m.

Boatright said the number of outages has fluctated throughout the day.

“As soon as we get something fixed, another limb falls somewhere,” said Boatright.
