The Fairburn city council will discuss adopting a Complete Streets Policy at its regular meeting, 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 56 Malone St.

A Complete Streets Policy would put a design approach in place directing the city of Fairburn to make public facilities accommodate different modes of transportation. Traditional transportation users such as vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists would be identified in future maintenance, resurfacing and construction of transportation projects.

The U.S. Department of Transportation in 2010 declared its support of including bicycle and pedestrian facilities in federal aid transportation projects. More than 950 jurisdictions in the U.S. have adopted a Complete Streets Policy.

The Fairburn city council will also discuss a resolution to amend various sections of the city’s personnel policy and the proposed cancellation of the Dec. 26 workshop and council meetings in recognition of the Christmas holiday.
