A three-phase approach is planned for the reopening of the Emory-Adventist Hospital Campus on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.
Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott gave an update in his newest email newsletter based upon his conversation with Dane Peterson, president of the Hospital Group, Emory Health Care.
The Certificate of Need will be filed by Emory Health Care on March 19 though Emory currently has a CON to provide the hospital services.
This new CON is required because of the capital expenditures Emory will be making.
The CON process is expected to be finalized in spring or summer 2017, depending upon appeals.
Phase 1 would begin with the completion of the CON process, consisting of a $34 million investment in the hospital facilities and taking about 8 to 10 months to complete in 2018.
This phase will allow the hospital to work closely with Emory University Hospital Midtown to provide mainly surgical services.
