A few weeks after an ordinance was adopted by the McDonough City Council regarding litter and unsightly conditions on private property, council member Sandra Vincent made a motion at the council’s Nov. 18 regular meeting to repeal it.

Vincent cited concerns about fees and penalties for violators of the new ordinance and noted that only two or three code enforcement officers are currently available to monitor a city of 26,000 residents. She asked that the ordinance be reconsidered and that more public input be solicited from citizens, but after her motion was seconded by Kamala Varner, it failed by a 2-5 vote.
