The city of East Point has closed the 3600 area of North Desert Drive for storm pipe replacement, according to a press release.

North Desert Drive northbound lanes will be closed for at least a week. Construction began 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14. There will be signage indicating road closed to the Park & Ride only from Camp Creek Parkway. Traffic will not have traveling access from Camp Creek Parkway to Redwine Road.

North Desert Drive southbound from Redwine Road will be closed during the same period. The southbound traffic will only have access on the southbound lanes of North Desert Drive from Redwine Road through to the entrance to Camp Creek Parkway at the Cactus Car Wash.

The emergency construction pipe replacement is due to the erosion of the bottom of a 42-inch corrugated metal pipe under North Desert Drive. The pipe will be replaced with a 42-inch reinforced concrete pipe.
