Early voting for Cobb County’s SPLOST referendum begins Monday, Feb. 21.

In-person early voting runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday through March 11 at the main branch of Cobb’s election office, 736 Whitlock Ave. in Marietta. Voters can also request mail-in ballots online.

Advanced voting at limited satellite branches will be March 7-11, followed by the March 15 special election.

If approved, the county’s current one-percent special purpose local option sales tax levy will be extended four years, beginning Jan. 1, 2012. The SPLOST is expected to generate $492 million for parks, recreation and transportation maintenance projects.

A SPLOST debate featuring speakers for and against the levy extension is scheduled for Feb. 23 at the County Government Building on Cherokee St. in Marietta.
