Following three public hearings, community workshops and input from the Citizen’s Budget Review Advisory Committee, the Duluth City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve the Fiscal Year 2018 budget.

The $26,241,236 budget represents a $367K increase over the 2017 budget. City Manager James Riker compared current figures in the FY17 budget to the proposed FY18 budget, showing that revenues have increased and expenditures decreased, closing the gap of funds required needed from prior year reserves.

Duluth’s millage rate will be set at a later date once the city receives the Gwinnett County digest, but is currently anticipated to remain the same at 6.551 mills. The 2018 budget is available for review in the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 3167 Main St.
