The Duluth City Council agreed April 11 to spend a maximum of $63,800 with the Foresite Group for a Park Master Plan Update.
Funding for the contract includes a transfer of $3,463 in 2009 SPLOST funds from the Taylor Park Improvements Fountain to City Park Master Plan. The renovations to the fountain are complete, therefore the funds can be used elsewhere.
In addition, the city agreed to reallocate funds from three separate projects with designated 2009 SPLOST funds. Funds totaling $8,663 will come from the Church Street Park Master Plan, $11,674 from the now completed W. P. Jones Park parking lot project, and $40,000 will be diverted from the W. P. Jones Park walking nature trail based on an evaluation of the project cost.
City Council noted the park master plan update will encourage community involvement, possibly in coordination with Town Green events.
