The Duluth Police Department has hired its first full-time crime analyst. Officer Ted Sadowski will undergo weeks of intensive training to become certified.

According to the International Association of Crime Analysts, crime analysts review police reports each day to identify patterns as they emerge. If a burglar starts targeting drugs stores, or domestic violence becomes a recurring problem in one family, an analyst will catch it and be able to assist the department in proactive crime prevention.

In addition to being Duluth PD’s analyst, Sadowski will be the department’s Social Media Coordinator and Public Information Officer.
