David Dude began as City Schools Decatur’s 10th superintendent since 1902 on Monday, spending his first four hours meeting with predecessor Phyllis Edwards “dropping a whole lot of information into my brain.”
Part of the afternoon included attending an event at the governor’s mansion. Perhaps referring to the steady stream of activities, along with the non-stop rain, he said, “Today has been like drinking from a fire hose.”
Later this week he has interviews scheduled with board members, select CSD staff, principals and key members of the community including at least three city staffers.
Dude arrived a day before voters decide whether to approve a $75 million bond, money that would go towards schools’ renovation and new construction.
