The city of Doraville has announced that the Food Truck Rallies will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month in front of Doraville City Hall, 3725 Park Ave. The event was competing against similar same-day events in surrounding cities, draining the availability of a broader selection of vendors.
“We found that many people, after working all day, found it difficult to leave their home again in the evening to come to the event,” says Doraville Mayor Donna Pittman. “We held the first event on a Saturday and the crowds were much bigger than what we have been experiencing lately on Thursday evenings.”
In line with these new parameters, the next Doraville rally has been scheduled for July 16.
“In addition, we want to be able to give residents a wider variety of dining options and when we have several similar events on the same day, this dilutes the pool of vendors available,” said Atlanta Food Truck Coalition coordinator Jim Shumake. “Also, people running weekend errands or shopping are, we have found, more apt to drop by the rallies for lunch or to meet friends.”
