Doraville police are trying to determine why a 31-year-old man jailed for public intoxication died Saturday evening.

Police did not identify the man Sunday, pending notification of his next of kin.

Officers found the man unconscious in his cell at the Doraville Detention Facility just before 6 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics were unable to revive him.

Following the investigation, any conclusions will be forwarded to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review, said Doraville Police spokesman Officer Gene Callaway.
