Consideration of what to do with nearly $20 million in excess revenue from Henry County’s last special-purpose local option sales tax program was postponed after initially being included on the agenda for the board’s May 19 regular meeting.

Officials reported that revenue collections for the SPLOST amounted to $19.8 million above projections, and a resolution was drawn up proposing how to distribute the extra money. Staff recommended dividing it evenly into six $3.3 million portions, one for countywide projects and the other five for the county’s individual commission districts, with the funds going toward road projects, park improvements and the county’s airport.
