Despite a lengthy delay, the mixed-use project at North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard featuring a planned 700 apartments remains intact. Fuqua Development will again submit four requests for amending its Phase 2 plans to the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur.
Those requests were deferred last month, and further there hasn’t been any demolition of the Scott Boulevard Baptist Church and nine homes on Barton Way. Fuqua Principal Jeff Fuqua told the AJC back in February that demolition would begin “any day now.” But Dennis Webb, an attorney representing Fuqua, said this week he doesn’t see any cause for a concern.
“My understanding, they haven’t gotten the demolition permits, which sometimes takes a while,” he said. “And I think we’ll get [Phase 2] approved on Tuesday. There’s nothing major here, it’s all typical, last-minute stuff. There’s no reason I know of this won’t move forward.”
