DeKalb’s Roadhaven Drive closed through June

DeKalb County officials recently announced that Roadhaven Drive, between Greer Circle and Lewis Road, will be closed to through traffic until 9 p.m., Friday, June 7. The road is closed to repair the storm drainage infrastructure.

In 2010, DeKalb County allocated $326 million to fix its aging sewer system in order to reduce sanitation spills. In an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Georgia’s Environmental Protection Division, the county said it will have those repairs finished by 2020.

With less than half of projects completed, CEO Michael Thurmond said recently it could take an additional five years to complete the work.

In the meantime, the county is still plugging away at the problems.

DeKalb County may incur fines and other penalties if the deadline isn’t met.

Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area to advise motorists of traffic restrictions.
