The sentencing hearing has been set for a DeKalb County man convicted of murdering his fiancé, an elementary school teacher, after claiming she killed herself.

Antione Hood, 31, was convicted of felony murder and aggravated assault last week in the shooting death of Rockdale County elementary school teacher Candace McGriff, 28. He will face 

The mandatory minimum for a felony murder conviction under Georgia law is life. The question is whether Hood will ever have a chance at parole.

Hood called police on Feb. 17, 2015, to the victim's home on Lithonia's home on Concepts 21 Drive and directed them to her body, claiming she shot herself because he was going to break up with her.

McGriff was a teacher at C.J. Hicks Elementary School in Conyers.
