The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to grant a rezoning request recently. The applicant, Flat Shoals LLC, requested rezoning from a single family residential zone into a residential/small lot mixed zone. The property is located on the northeast side of Flat Shoals Road and 325 feet southeast of Fayetteville Road.

It will be developed into at least 48 townhomes, with 7.4 townhomes per acre and providing 2.5 acres of old growth forest included in the designated greenspace.

During the meeting there was no community input.

“This is very exciting for the neighborhood,” Commissioner Kathy Gannon said. “This could serve as an impetus to help build up this growing community.”
