DeKalb County will soon add Sunday hours at its animal shelter as part of an ongoing effort find homes for the 5,000 animals it euthanizes each year.

Starting July 22, the shelter on Memorial Drive and Camp Circle will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

The facility also is open from 10 .m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and on Fridays. The shelter has extended evening hours, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Thursdays, and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
