The man who has long served as chief of staff for the DeKalb County Commission now oversees several county departments and projects, including the $1.35 billion water/sewer overhaul.

Interim CEO Lee May said he appointed Morris Williams as deputy chief operating officer to unite the commission and administration. The Watershed overhaul is a key focus, since allegations of corruption in those contracts in part prompted the 15-count felony indictment against suspended CEO Burrell Ellis.

Morris will serve in both roles under May, who also tapped commission budget analyst Jay Vinicki as the assistant finance director.
