The Decatur Police Department reports an increase in burglaries in the southeastern part of the city in the past week.

Between Jan. 14 and Monday, four burglaries to homes after 8 p.m. were reported to the department. Three of the homes were vacant during the burglaries, and no one was injured.

In the fourth burglary, a resident told police that someone tried to enter her home through a back window after she did not answer a knock at the door. The suspect fled without taking anything after realizing someone was home.
