Decatur High Principal Noel Maloof announced dates for parents to provide “proof of residence” for rising ninth graders. In an email, Maloof said the school will need two documents, either a current lease, property tax bill or mortgage statement, and a current utility bill.

Proof of residence will be accepted only today (July 14), July 15, July 21, July 22, July 28 and July 29 at the high school, 310 N. McDonough St.. If not provided by July 30, Maloof wrote, “Withdrawal procedures will take place.” For more questions, contact Debbie Shadrix at 404-370-4170, ext. 2165.

Enrollment for the City of Decatur Schools has grown anywhere from 8 percent to 12 percent each year since 2009, with Superintendent Phyllis Edwards and staff particularly diligent about cracking down on the system’s out-of-district students.
