A senior prank at East Paulding High School cost $7,500 to clean up, school system officials said Friday afternoon.

"The estimate includes the man hours, materials, and equipment costs required to repair damages," Brian Otott, associate superintendent for Paulding schools, said in a letter released Friday.

Deputies have arrested 24 teenagers, mostly students at the Dallas school, in connection with March 11 vandalism. All of those arrested face a felony charge of criminal interference with government property, Cpl. Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office has said.

The parents of students involved in the vandalism will be notified, but information regrading specific punishment from the school will not be made public, Otott said. The students could face suspension or expulsion, according to Paulding County School District policy.

A passer-by called police in the early morning hours Sunday after witnessing a group of students spray-painting buildings at the school, police said. Many of the teens were dressed in black and carried paint in several colors, including black, yellow, white and green, the incident report states.

"All buildings were spray painted to include windows," a deputy wrote in the report. "Access was made to the roof where it was also painted. Chairs, tables and benches were thrown out into the parking lot and several vehicles spray painted."

Administrators at the school have concluded their investigation into the vandalism, Otott said.
