Robotics demo canceled for Tuesday
The McEachern High School Robotics Team demonstration planned for Tuesday afternoon at the Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta St. has been canceled.

“Identifying World Markets for Your Products” will be discussed 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, 240 Interstate North Parkway, Atlanta.

Veterans Park opens in Paulding
Paulding County has opened its twelfth park, Veterans Park, in front of the Watson Government Complex in Dallas.
The $3.6 million seven-acre park includes an amphitheater, formal pavilion, fountain, restrooms, a small playground, half-mile walking track, benches, picnic tables, landscaping, lighting and security.
Veterans Park will be connected to the Silver Comet Trail and eventually will be linked with Tara Drummond Park with a second trail parallel to U.S. 278.Information: paulding.gov.

Norcross collecting for mayor’s book club
Norcross, Norcross Cluster Schools and 45 South Café will hold a buffet dinner fundraiser 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 45 South Café, 45 S. Peachtree St. in Norcross. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds going to buy books for the Mayor’s Book Club. Donations accepted. The event will feature the culinary expertise of residents of the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber area who will be “cooking for books.”

Civil Air Patrol meets Thursdays
The Civil Air Patrol’s DeKalb County cadet squadron meets at 6:45 p.m. Thursdays at Peachtree DeKalb Airport, 2000 Airport Road, Suite 227.
The Civil Air Patrol is the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force open to youth 12 to 18 to learn about aviation, aerospace, search-and-rescue operations and leadership.

Flower show deadline is Friday
Deadline for free entries in any of 66 categories of the Standard Flower Show, the centerpiece of the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville.
The free show will be open 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the courthouse’s atrium along with many other weekend events that are presented by the Douglas County Tourism and History Commission.
