The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 6 to designate $1.938 million toward the cost of replacing Fire Station 8 on Flippen Road. That station has been housed in a building more than 30 years old that was recently vacated because of structural defects. Personnel and equipment were relocated to other stations and temporary facilities are now being installed at the site. County officials will now proceed with design and engineering studies to determine the feasibility of building a new station at the same location and whether to move to another piece of property in the same area.
