David Ellwanger submitted this photo. “My wife and I were in Avignon on a trip to Provence, France. It had been raining most of the afternoon, but it finally stopped so we ventured out of our hotel at dusk,” he wrote. “We turned the corner into the courtyard of the Palace of the Popes, and saw this magnificent rainbow over the palace, with the building bathed in the last rays of the day. It only lasted a few minutes, then it was gone.”
