College Park may become the first city in the state of Georgia to use a new application, or app, initiated by College Park Fire Rescue called PulsePoint.
PulsePoint is a new life-saving app that alerts CPR-trained smartphone users that someone nearby is experiencing cardiac arrest. The app works in conjunction with local 911 services and only notifies the CPR-trained individuals if there’s cardiac arrest, as opposed to other emergencies. The city has planned a roll out event to introduce the app to residents at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) in College Park, 2000 Convention Center Concourse. Mayor Jack P. Longino is expected to attend, as well as College Park’s Fire Chief Wade Elmore and Ron Taylor, Project Manager for PulsePoint. College Park Communications has produced a short video to explain what PulsePoint does.
