Fee increases for transfer station to residents

Cobb residents bringing their waste materials to the county’s transfer station are paying a $3 increase from $7 to $10 for 400 pounds or less per transaction of construction and demolition waste.

This decision was made recently by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners at the request of Advanced Disposal Services (ADS) Cobb County Transfer Station, LLC.

In addition - as before, 3 cents per pound more is charged exceeding 400 pounds per transaction of construction and demolition waste.

Also, Cobb residents are charged $8.50 per transaction involving a net weight of 400 pounds or less of municipal solid waste and 3 cents per pound more for each pound exceeding 400 pounds.

The reason is that ADS officials say the increase is needed because of rising costs for transporting and disposing waste materials from the county’s transfer station at 1897 County Services Parkway next to the county jail.

Out-of-county residents pay a minimum $50 for the first 400 pounds of waste materials per transaction and 3 cents more per pound in excess of the 400 pounds.

Since June 2009, ADS has managed, monitored, collected fees, processed and disposed of off-site municipal solid waste and construction and demolition waste delivered by customers to the county’s transfer station.

Closed on Sundays and county holidays, the transfer station is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
